Committee of the Whole Information

The Board of Education oversees district business through a Committee of the Whole meeting on the second Tuesday of every month. The Committee of the Whole meetings replace previous Facility, Finance, Labor Management, Personnel, Policy, Student Services, and Teaching & Learning committees. Committee of the Whole meetings include all seven board members and serve in addition to regularly scheduled board meetings.

How does a Committee of the Whole work?
Typically an agenda item is presented to the committee. During this time, board members are encouraged to participate in a conversation about the item presented. Then, the agenda item is presented again, at the regularly scheduled school board meeting where voting will take place.

Why is a Committee of the Whole beneficial?
Committee of the Whole meetings allow board members the time to hear proposals and have lengthy and important discussions before scheduled board meetings.

Are Committee of the Whole meetings open to the public?
Yes. However, please note, no action will take place on any agenda items.

When and where do meetings take place?
Committee of the Whole meetings take place the second Tuesday of every month at 6:45 pm, at the school where that month's meeting is being held, unless otherwise noted.
